Beavers fundraise for children in Ukraine

On Saturday 19th March the Beavers planted sunflowers (the national flower of Ukraine) around the village to raise money for child refugees and their families in Ukraine. All proceeds will be donated to the UNICEF’s Ukraine appeal. If you’d like to help right now simply donate via this page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/balfron-beavers-unicef-ukraine.

So far they've raised nearly £600.

Fundraising night

For the last couple of weeks the Scouts have been organising their own fundraising night. Each patrol had loads of ideas and everyone was given a job to do - advertising, baking cakes, collecting jumble, buying provisions etc.

The Scouts did a fantastic job of setting up all the stalls themselves, baking cakes, making teas, coffees and smoothies, arranging the jumble and making "guess the number of sweeties" games, and a beat the clock cycle challenge.

Everyone had a great evening and we raised over £250 for various charities, all picked by the Scouts themselves.

Beavers raise £455!

Balfron Beavers have raised £455 for Robin House Childrens Hospice, well done!

CHAS would like to say a very big thank you to the Beavers for all their work in raising the money.

Commonwealth Games Baton Relay

Earlier this summer the Commonwealth Games came to Glasgow and the Commonwealth Games Baton came to Balfron. To mark this event the village had a celebration and our Scout Troop manned the refreshment tent.

The Baton was brought into the village by Colin Gregor, Scotland's Rugby 7s captain and it was then passed on to David, the Dad of one of our Beavers.

Balfron Bash

This weekend the troop took part in the annual Balfron Bash, the local community summer festival. We all raided our bedrooms for unwanted books and toys and created a toy shop with our mess tent.

It was great to be part of the event and we sold a huge amount of books and toys, raising money for some of our future activities. Thanks to all who helped out...

...particularly to our mobile advertising board.
